Our company has two branches, viz., CHOICE 2000 General Import & Commission Agent th and sister companies organized under Darara Enterprise, viz., Darara Coffee Enterprise and Darara Foods & Soft Drinks Trade Enterprise.
CHOICE 2000 General Import and Commission Agent
CHOICE 2000 General Import & Commission Agent, was established as General importing and commissioning company in 1999 in Addis Ababa. As one of its main branch, it has been engaged primarily in International Competitive Bids (ICB) tender related businesses and import trades.
Ethiopia is the birthplace of all Arabica coffees. Ethiopian coffee is typically grown at mid to high altitudes, resulting in diverse flavors and aromatic profiles. The country produces large quantities of coffee using both sun-dried (natural) and fully washed processing methods.
Basically , in Ethiopian, coffees are classified and designated according the area in which they are grown. Accordingly, there are five coffee regions viz., Sidama, Yirgacheffe, Southwest (Jimma, Limu and Bonga), Nekemti/ Wellega and Harar Regions.
So far our company is dealing with Limu and Jimma coffees. However, we are planning to include Sidamo, Yirgachefe, Guji, Bonga and Nekemti coffees in a near future.
Recently, the company has extended its business to export trade of green coffee beans under the name of ‘’Darara Coffee Enterprise’’. The Enterprise has been established in September 2021, in Addis Ababa. Long before its establishment, the owner has been engaged in Agro-Industry under a company name ‘’ Biya Haji ‘’ in Jimma zone of Oromia, National Regional state since 1999.
The company owns washing/Hulling plant in Jimma Zone of National Regional state of Oromia. Here, the company directly buys ripe Cherries from private coffee growing farmers and cooperative unions. Regarding coffee processing, we are specialized both in wet (fully washing) and natural processing methods. The company used to sell these coffee products in Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX) market since long time ago and vertically to other exporters.
Then after September 2021, Darara Coffee Enterprise, was established to extend the company business to export trade level. Since its establishment the company, yearly exports more than 100MT of Limu Grade-2 washed green coffee beans and naturally sun dried grade 3, 4 & 5 coffees to European markets.
So as to expand the scope of the business, our company, on 8th May 2024 signed an agreement with Moha Soft Drinks Industry S.C. to distribute soft drinks at the regional level in Ethiopia. Accordingly, we are distributing in Jimma Zone of Oromia National Regional State. We are distributing both RGB (Returnable Glass Bottle) and PET packed soft drink products in more than 15 Woredas’ and towns including Jimma & Agaro Towns.
We have a central warehouse and Distribution hubs in Jimma and a brach in Agaro. The brands we are dealing with include Pepsi, 7Up and Mirinda in RGB bottles and Mirinda-Orange, Mrinda-Tonic and Mirinda-Apple in PET plastic bottles in 500ml, 1.0Lt and 1.5 Lt Sizes.
At present, we have a central warehouse in Jimma Town and a branch in Agaro. Accordingly, whole sellers are directly collecting the products from the two warehouses. On the otherhand, to reach retailers, the company is using delivery trucks that distribute door to door in which we ensured effectiveness and efficiency in distribution.
Under this company we also Import and Distribute milk powder products and other basic food items like edible oil, wheat flour, sugar, wheat grain, rice, etc.
